What size bike should I buy?

Here at GT we are all about the ride and we want our customers to feel the same way. While we can spend vast amounts of time designing the best bikes in the industry, having a bike set up poorly can undo all of our best efforts.

In order to maximize the bike’s potential, we firmly believe that customers should work with their local GT retailer to be fitted for their new bike. To find the retailer nearest you, click here.

We advise beginning the fit conversation not with frame size, but with bike platform. Despite the large amounts of research many customers do before stepping foot inside of the shop, first hand experience with the local riding area and products means that your local GT retailer can offer assistance in ensuring you are selecting the model that best suites your needs.

When determining the specific frame size, the GT retailer can make an initial assessment based on your physical measurements and help to narrow down the range of frame sizes. Test riding the bike can complete the sizing process as you’ll be able to feel the differences between frame sizes.

While components can be adjusted to fit the rider, a correctly sized bike will result in a rider utilizing roughly the middle range of a component’s adjustment or available sizes. When faced with fitting in-between two sizes of bike, we recommend sizing down to the smaller size. While a longer stem can be fit to the bike to reach the desired adjustment, the larger bike will always have a longer wheelbase and higher top tube, things that cannot be adjusted via a component change.
